He is survived by his wife Joanna "Joni" Conley, of Ashland son Eric Conley (Jessie) and grandsons Wyatt and Ollie Conley of Redmond WA daughter Eve Conley Staude (Ron) and grandchildren Dylan and Luke of Catawba, NC Josh Conley (Amanda) and grandchildren Grayson and Maggie of Troutman, NC. He played piano at Grace United Methodist Church in Raceland KY.Īlthough Tom had an accomplished life, his proudest and happiest moments were spent with family. He has also taught piano at Queens College in Charlotte NC, and Marshall University as well as operating a piano studio in Ashland. His business interests have included Morehead Foods, Inc., Big Creek Management Inc., Guyan Development International, Inc., Eve Coal Company, Blackheart Inc., Tom Conley Enterprises, Inc., and Speedy Signs and Banners. Tom's ventures include everything from fast food to coal operations to being a piano teacher to eventually operating a sign shop. Tom served in the military where he performed in the National Guard Band.Īlthough a career in music was an option for Tom, he instead decided to step into the world of business where he excelled. Tom was a gifted piano player where he excelled and was awarded a scholarship to Morehead State University where he eventually earned his Master's Degree in Music Performance. Tom enjoyed an idyllic childhood growing up nestled in a community full of family, spending his days adventuring the hills that surrounded his home. Tom was born December 8th, 1948 in Paintsville KY, the only child of Clyde Conley and Darlene Murphy Conley. Stu retired as Plant Manager from Kentucky Electric Steel and later served as Dean of Ashland Community and Technical College. Stu was a past board member of Kentucky State Chamber of Commerce, past founding board member of Tri-State Fair and Regatta and received the Economic Development Award from Governor Paul Patton. He was a member of the City of Ashland Park Board. Stu was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he served as an Elder. He served honorably in the United States Army and was a member of Fred Gross Masonic Lodge 953 for over 30 years where he was a Master Mason. He received his Under Grad and Graduate degrees from Morehead State University. Stu graduated from Ashland High School in 1956. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky on September 20, 1938. Walter Stewart "Stu" Taylor III, 84, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away at the Community Hospice Care Center on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
